Role: Senior Business Intelligence Analyst
Contract Length: 3 months initially
Location: Hybrid/London – 2 days per week on site (One of these days must be Wednesday)
IR35: Inside
Pay Rate to Intermediary: £41.18 - £53.55 per hour
Security Clearance: BPSS

 

Spinwell is recruiting for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST

  • Data Environment Discovery & Mapping
    • Map and understand a large set of Excel-based spreadsheets currently used for case management and KPI reporting.
    • Work with PSU stakeholders to document how data is captured, stored, and reported.
  • Build Robust Reporting & Dashboards
    • Create new, trusted reporting outputs in Power BI, including:
    • A priority set of 10 key KPIs required by the Fire Resilience & Emergency Planning Committee.
    • BAU dashboards: case response times, outcomes, case demographics, workflow progress, etc.
  • Data Engineering & Data Integrity
    • Write SQL to restructure or clean data and move it into the LFB’s central data platform.
    • Assess data quality and introduce KPI definitions and consistent reporting processes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
    • Regular engagement with PSU team members, business leads, and internal data teams.
    • Work closely with Senita as the line manager in a highly supportive environment.

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE SENIOR BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST

  • Demonstrated expertise in data analytics tools, with particularly strong capabilities in Power BI, SQL, and advanced Excel.
  • Proven ability to work independently, exercising sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive data.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a track record of building trust and rapport across stakeholders while bringing a practical, common-sense approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience delivering complex analytical projects, including working within large, unstructured or legacy data environments and introducing clarity, structure, and scalable solutions.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and navigating incomplete or messy datasets.
  • Proactive and positive mindset, with enthusiasm for tackling complex challenges.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence across varying levels of the organisation.
  • Outcome-oriented approach, with a focus on delivering impact rather than rigid adherence to process.
  • High attention to detail, alongside a strong understanding of data governance principles.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to translate data insights into meaningful business outcomes.
  • Note: Candidates with exceptional technical expertise combined with strong interpersonal skills will be considered, even if their project experience is less extensive.
