Role: Project Systems Accountant REF 1754427
Contract Length: 9-12 months contract
Location: Hybrid/Brentwood
IR35: Inside
Pay Rate to Intermediary: £35-£40 per hour

 

Spinwell is recruiting for a Project Systems Accountant for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PROJECT SYSTEMS ACCOUNTANT

  • To manage, maintain and develop the Councils’ corporate financial management systems from both a strategic and operational perspective
  • To manage the Systems team
  • To manage any project and/or temporary workers as required
  • To formulate and develop financial projects as determined by the Council.
  • To monitor and lead financial projects within the Council and feedback outcomes and progress to the Corporate Manager.
  • To lead on the strategic planning and development of service delivery within the framework of service objectives, the authority's corporate objectives, policies and any legal requirements as they relate to the financial systems
  • To lead on the maintenance and any upgrades of the Councils’ corporate financial management systems, budget monitoring systems and related procedures including communications, impact assessments and training
  • Information Asset Owner for Resources
  • To continually monitor and evaluate service provision and functionality to further strengthen processes and drive improvement and efficiencies
  • Specialist lead and advisor on the Councils’ financial systems

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE PROJECT SYSTEMS ACCOUNTANT

  • Sound understanding of public sector (Local Government) finance and legislation.
  • Good knowledge of accounting codes of practice
  • Good knowledge and experience of corporate financial systems in a local government setting
  • An understanding of accounting and procurement practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of budgeting and budgetary control
  • High standard of numeracy and accuracy.
  • Able to solve problems and implement solutions in systems.
  • Able to use complex and specialist software packages relating to financial management systems, ensuring accuracy and robustness.
  • Able to contribute effectively to budget preparation and the production of final accounts
  • Ability to self-motivate, plan and prioritise to meet a variety of targets within tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite of products.
  • Excellent Accountancy/Book-keeping skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to varying levels of complexity.
  • Strong analytical skills and a pro-active approach to problem solving.
  • Able to contribute positive suggestions and willing to take forward
