Role: Technical Lead 
Contract Length: 6 Months with possible extension
Location: Hybrid/Edinburgh or Glasgow - Onsite collaboration when required depending on project/team requirements
IR35: Outside
Pay Rate to Intermediary: £557.25 per day
Security Clearance: BPSS

Spinwell is recruiting for a Technical Lead for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.


RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TECHNICAL LEAD

An experienced software engineer with solid commercial experience of building containerised Spring Boot Java applications running on OpenShift is required to provide hands-on technical leadership to an agile development team within client's Housing Management Registers domain, ensuring alignment with strategic architectural direction and acting as a conduit between the development team and the Architecture Steering Group, helping to define and refine best practices, standards and architectural principles.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE TECHNICAL LEAD

Significant commercial experience with the following technology:

  • Java 11+
  • Spring Boot
  • Spring MVC
  • Spring Web Flow
  • Thymeleaf templates
  • REST APIs
  • JavaScript UI frameworks, including Node and Vue,
  • React, Next.js and Typescript
  • Strong HTML / CSS skills and an awareness of accessibility considerations.
  • OpenShift
  • Modern DevOps and CI/CD practices including deployment pipelines, Jenkins, and Docker

    Significant and demonstrable commercial experience in the following areas:

  • Technically leading a high-performing, cross-functional development team.
  • Designing, gaining consensus, and implementing technical solutions for software development projects.
  • Developing within Digital First or GDS quality standards.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders, understanding context and requirements, from diverse areas of a business including Product Management, Service Design, and Operations.
  • Introduction of new or improved processes in development environments.
  • Developing solutions using human-centred, research-driven, inclusive design practices.
  • Designing and implementing solutions using service and event-based architectures.
  • Using testing tools for unit testing, including system test automation frameworks.
  • Cloud monitoring, telemetry, intelligence tools and processes, including Grafana.
  • Using written, verbal, and visual communication to explain complex topics concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Working in Agile delivery models.
  • Defining infrastructure as code.
  • Coaching and training other developers and team members.
  • Working closely with Product and Agile teams to ensure team performance.
