Contract Length: Initial 3 Months – With possible extension for further 3 months
Location: Hybrid/Thrapston - 3 days on site, more if required. Mixture of working at an office, WFH and visiting site. Primarily you will be based at the Thrapston office but might need to work at other office locations such as Kettering

Spinwell is recruiting for a Building Control Surveyor for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BUILDING CONTROL SURVEYOR
- To provide an effective Building Control service through the regulation and enforcement of the Building Regulations 2010, the Building Act 1984 and associated legislation to ensure the health, safety and convenience of people in and about buildings.
- To deliver a professional customer focused LABC service which meets customers’ needs and delivers good customer satisfaction, and which fully explores future opportunities to grow market share and maximise income.
- To promote sustainable construction and energy efficiency improvements throughout North Northamptonshire through the provision of supportive regulation to developers/builders/householders and through public information and awareness.
- To support the Building Control Manager through the process of change with the introduction of new legislation that impacts upon service delivery.
- To support the Building Control Manager to deliver transformational change and innovation in services within your area of responsibility
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE BUILDING CONTROL SURVEYOR
- Need to be Level 2A or ideally 2F
- Degree in a construction related discipline e.g. Building Surveying, Construction Management or similar, or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Registered Building Inspector (RBI) with a maintained competency class and category commensurate with the more complex projects within NNC area.
- Membership of relevant Professional Body e.g. MCABE/FCABE, MCIOB/FCIOB or MRICS/FRICS (Exceptionally, if a candidate is not a member of a professional body but can demonstrate through their experience that they meet the requirements of the role, membership will not be required)
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Building Regulations 2010 (as amended), the Building Act 1984 and associated legislation.
- Extensive Knowledge and understanding of Building Control service delivery including working at a senior level.
- Significant experience working in a building control surveying capacity.
- Demonstrable experience working on complex commercial residential, and mixed-use projects in a Building Control surveying capacity.
- Knowledge of legislation relating to enforcement of contravening building work.
- Knowledge and experience providing individually determined fee quotations/proposals.
- Evidence of continual professional development
