Location: RAF Wittering – full time on site. Some weekend work.

Pay Rate to Intermediary: £23.00 per hour

Spinwell is recruiting for a Chef for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CHEF
You are responsible for the highest standards of personal cleanliness, hygiene, and appearance. You are to comply with all Mess work instructions. You are responsible to the organisation for the highest possible standards of food preparation, production, cleanliness and hygiene of equipment within your work area, paying particular attention to the following:
- Daily messing. Including the production of 3 core meals served throughout the day.
- Official, Unofficial and Private functions within all Messes.
- Ensure that Due Diligence is carried out to the highest standard, this includes but not limited to; temperature checks, fridge/freezer temps, cleaning schedules, allergen labelling and following rules & regs at Enclosure 1, The Food Safety Act 1990 and Contractor regulations.
- Ensure all areas of the kitchen, including ancillary rooms and equipment, are clean at end of shift ready for hand-over/take-over.
- The maintenance of high messing standards complying with the Joint Menu Selector within authorised costs, production specific control of wastage.
- In accordance with our industry partner and contract, strictly adhere to recipe cards, cooking methods and use of specified ingredients.
- The prompt reporting to your line manager of defects and work service requirements.
- Receipt of deliveries, checking quantities, quality, and temperature before departure of the driver and reporting and discrepancies immediately to your line manager or Contractor.
- When required, assist with the loading or unloading of supply vehicles.
- Ensure economy in the use of fuels, disposables and equipment.
- The security of stores and kitchen premises at cease of work.
- All additional tasks as detailed by the Mess Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO).
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE CHEF
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Written and verbal English language abilities to a level that enables effective understanding of instructions and policy documentation, and proficient engagement with customers
- Able to work unsupervised and as part of a team
- Able to work a variety of shift patterns
