RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DRIVER  

• Drive a designated library vehicle in a careful and lawful manner.
• Ensure the safe custody of the vehicle, including overnight parking, and secure all trans-ported property.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks (oil, water, fuel levels, tyre pressure, etc.) and maintain the Daily Check Book.
• Wash the vehicle as needed and keep the interior clean and tidy.
• Maintain the vehicle in a safe and roadworthy condition, liaising with the line manager regarding servicing, repairs, and PSV preparation.
• Keep detailed records of journeys, fuel usage, servicing, and repairs in log and mileage sheets.
• Report any vehicle-related issues to the line manager.
• Load and offload deliveries, including stock, equipment, furniture, and supplies.
• Ensure proper distribution and storage of items as directed.
• Safely package goods for transport, including the packing and unpacking of books.
• Participate in training and staff development programmes in line with the Staff Development Policy.
• Support the introduction and operation of Information Communications Technology relevant to the grade.
• Stay informed about developments within the client.
• Contribute to training on routine service operations.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, welcoming environment in compliance with Health and Safety policy.
• Ensure equipment, including vehicles, is used responsibly, properly secured, and recorded accurately in inventory records.
• Undertake other duties relevant to the grade as reasonably required by senior staff.

• Hold a current Category C1 Driver’s Licence.
• Have at least two years’ driving experience in a library or delivery driver role.
• Demonstrated manual handling experience.
• Proven ability to work as part of a team, making a significant contribution to team objectives.
