Role: Contaminated Land Officer REF 1648425
Contract Length: Initial 12 weeks
Location: Mainly remote working, potential some need to visit local authority office on occasion
IR35: Inside
Pay Rate to Intermediary: £46 per hour

Spinwell is recruiting for a Contaminated Land Officer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CONTAMINATED LAND OFFICER

  • To advise, give guidance, undertake inspections/investigations and associated enforcement actions on Contaminated Land matters.
  • To update, implement and lead on the implementation of the Council’s Contaminated Land Strategy.
  • To work closely with and assist the other members of the Environmental Protection Team to ensure that all aspects of the contaminated land service are constantly kept under review and improved.
  • To respond to Planning Applications and provide support and assist others to respond to land contamination applications.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE CONTAMINATED LAND OFFICER

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of work relating to contaminated land.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent IT skills including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and ArcGIS.
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines, prioritise work and manage competing work demands.
  • Able to respond positively under pressure.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within a team and be a team player.
  • Able and willing to work independently and under supervision.
  • Flexible and receptive to new ideas and ways of working.
  • Ability to effectively analyse and interpret data.
  • A relevant degree in an Environmental subject or equivalent relatable experience.
  • Experience in the use of ArcGIS databases
