Role: Business Intelligence Architect REF 1687935
Contract Length: Until end of March 2026
Location: Hybrid/Ipswich – 2 days in the office per week
IR35: Inside
Pay Rate to Intermediary: £500 per day

Spinwell is recruiting for a Business Intelligence Architect for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ARCHITECT

Rapidly shape the data architecture, semantic layer, and reporting experience

Work closely with the Intelligence Hub (iHub) team to identify, source, and model the correct datasets

Build both the back-end (data models, DAX, governance) and front-end (dashboards, visuals, UX) of the tool

Manage the delivery as a short, outcome-focused project

Ensure a clean, well-documented handover so the iHub team can own, support, and extend the tool post-delivery

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ARCHITECT

Technical

• Significant hands-on experience as a Power BI Architect, BI Architect, or Senior Power BI Developer

  Expert-level knowledge of:

• Power BI Desktop & Service
• DAX (complex measures, performance tuning)
• Data modelling (dimensional / star schema)
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational data sources
• Experience designing enterprise-grade Power BI solutions, not just individual reports

Delivery & Ways of Working

• Proven experience delivering end-to-end BI solutions in short, fixed-term or contract engagements
• Comfortable working in ambiguous or partially defined problem spaces
• Able to balance speed of delivery with architectural integrity
• Strong documentation and knowledge-transfer discipline

Stakeholder & Behavioural

• Confident working directly with senior stakeholders
• Able to challenge requirements constructively and propose better options
• Pragmatic, outcomes-focused, and delivery-oriented
• Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy
