Spinwell is recruiting for a Business Change Lead for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BUSINESS CHANGE LEAD

The Business Change Leads are responsible for defining and implementing an effective Change Management approach to enable adoption of new ways of working and realise benefits, working as part of project/programme team alongside Project/Programme Managers, Business Design and subject matter experts, and liaising with senior stakeholders and with key enablers (such as HR and Communications) to ensure a holistic approach.

The role holders will be responsible for supporting the Head of Business Change in the provision of a Centre of Excellence in Change Management, including both centrally managed projects and programmes and those managed at Regional level), to cover:

  • Provision of tools, templates, guidance, advice and upskilling at portfolio, programme or project level.
  • Quality control of any Change Management activity being undertaken by project/programme teams, including consultancy teams supplying a Change Management service/deliverables to any project or programme, or being undertaken in the regions.
  • Provision of specialist Change Management expertise to the client Executive and the national network, connecting business change interventions to help realise benefits.

In addition the Business Change Leads support the Head of Business Change to provide professional leadership of the Regional Change Network.

The Business Change Leads will bring expertise and creativity to support the implementation of programmes and projects to support effective service delivery. In doing so they will work with:

  • Project and Programme Managers, overseeing the work of dedicated Change Managers working within their project and programme teams and ensuring that the change management approach aligns to the Business Change Framework and good practice and that they are engaging appropriately with the Regional Change Network.
  • Regional Change Managers, to ensure that they have the required skills and capability to manage change within their regional Change Teams, and that the cumulative impact of change at regional level is understood and managed.
  • The Benefits team in the PfMO, to ensure that Business Change methodology and guidance aligns to methodology for identifying, quantifying, planning and realisation of benefits and further that it supports transition of ownership of new capabilities developed to the business as the project or programme gets ready to close, ensuring that the business is equipped to sustain the change going forward.
  • The Business Design team, to ensure that change proposed is realistically deliverable from a business perspective and that the Regional Change Network are engaged in the business assurance of design where appropriate;
  • HR and Communications colleagues within the client to collectively manage the ‘people impacts’ of business change across the network.
  • Other HQ Pillars as required, e.g. Compliance and Assurance (who ensure that assessments of the impacts on Equality and Data Privacy that are legally required have been completed satisfactorily).

 

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE BUSINESS CHANGE LEAD

  • Ability to interact, negotiate and build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels so as to implement and embed new ways of working in support of transformational change
  • Ability to provide evidence-based assessments on the impacts of change and the success of change interventions
  • Ability to provide effective challenge to leaders across the organisation in order to lead change and improve service delivery and to inform and influence decision making
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including experience in developing concise and accurate briefings for senior leaders
  • Excellent facilitation skills, with the ability to elicit information and agreement from audiences of varying backgrounds
  • Highly organised and able to meet demanding deadlines in a pressured environment.
  • Strong team management and line management skills, with the ability to work with direct reports to create career development plans and skill development goals, milestones and measures
  • Self-starter, confident and capable of working both independently and collaboratively to tight deadlines with plenty of initiative.
  • Strong IT skills in the use of Microsoft Products
  • Strong knowledge and experience of the theory and practical application of Change Management (including assessing impact of change, ensuring business readiness and dealing with resistance, and effecting behavioural/culture change).
  • Experience of providing advice / consultancy on business change to influence decision makers, develop solutions and improve performance
  • Experience of facilitating groups (including senior leadership teams), balancing conflicting opinions, building consensus as necessary.
  • Experience of listening and understanding to the needs and experiences of customers and using these to develop solutions or interventions to achieve organisational outcomes.
  • Knowledge of programme and project management approaches such as MSP, PRINCE2 and Agile.
  • Experience of managing a complex set of tasks and prioritisation, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience of leading a team of Change Managers and providing guidance and quality control of their work.
  • Prosci: Change Practitioner (to be completed first 6 months, if not already held)
  • AMPG: Change Management- Practitioner (to be completed within 6-12 months, if not already held)
