Spinwell is recruiting for a Major Crime Staff Investigator for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MAJOR CRIME STAFF INVESTIGATOR

  • To prepare and write witness/victim statements in the approved evidential format.
  • To provide clerical support to investigating officers, including the updating of internal records, NICHE-Crime Recording System, HOLMES Database, Cycomms applications and making LANDesk and forensic submissions.
  • To undertake tasks and activities in support of criminal investigations. This includes reviewing material for secondary investigation that may be of a sensitive or confidential nature as well as conducting CCTV and witness enquiries. Being allocated actions through Coordinators and HOLMES.
  • When appropriate to seize, handle and ensure continuity of exhibits. Recording of information, storage and preparation of exhibit lists and disposal of property (Designated Power Police Reform Act 2002).
  • Liaise with other police forces, outside agencies, and partners in the furtherance of investigating requirements.
  • To support the Lead Interviewer in suspect & victim interviews as Second Interviewer.(This will not necessitate Designated Powers).
  • Assist in the preparation of files to the required standard as agreed by the client and Crown Prosecution Policies.
  • As directed, to undertake all other reasonable allocated tasks and activities in support of criminal investigations at the direction of an OIC/Supervisor.

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE MAJOR CRIME STAFF INVESTIGATOR

  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively, demonstrating tact, understanding, excellent listening skills and integrity.
  • Proven written communication skills to include experience of statement taking or report writing.
  • Ability to manage pressured situations and remain effective and productive whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Able to plan and organise workload in a methodical way to meet deadlines, recognising the organisation’s objectives and how their own work impacts on these.
  • Able to demonstrate openness to change to include a flexible approach to both working environment, location and shift pattern.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work effectively as a team member with experience of developing positive working relationships with others.
  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft based applications and the ability to research and interrogate databases & systems.
  • Must be able to travel across the county to meet business needs.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate a level of awareness of equality & diversity issues appropriate to this role.
