Spinwell is recruiting for a Senior Commercial Strategic Lead for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR COMMERCIAL STRATEGIC LEAD

This is a critical senior leadership role required to ensure the effective and assured delivery of services of FM Services to our US Visiting Forces (USVF) partners within the UK and the UK bases overseas (inc. but not limited to Cyprus, Gibraltar, the South Atlantic Islands). The post holder will need significant hands on commercial experience within the FM Category both procuring and implementing effective FM Contracts across a significant portfolio.

In the first instance the postholder will lead a dedicated team supporting Regional Delivery (RD) to deliver USVF Facilities Management and billable works across all UK USVF sites. This includes accountability for the procurement and delivery of two Category A FM programmes (which will commence imminently) and over 80 minor construction projects delivered via the SCAPE framework.

The role provides single-point senior ownership of the commercial vehicles underpinning FM delivery, ensuring outcomes are achieved efficiently, compliantly, and in line with policy and best practice. It will provide authoritative commercial leadership, expert advice, and strategic direction across complex, high-value programmes.

In addition to this the post holder will be expected to support the development and implementation of a pipeline across the portfolio, and improved contract performance reporting mechanisms.

The individual will lead a team, building their confidence and commercial capability to drive performance and manage setbacks. Provide both decisive and educated leadership, facilitating the engagement and effectiveness of the commercial team. Successfully engage, lead, coach and inspire the team to reinforce the leadership values. Deliver all required line management activities to ensure the team deliver their objectives.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE SENIOR COMMERCIAL STRATEGIC LEAD

  • Significant hands-on commercial experience within the FM Category both procuring and implementing effective FM Contracts, ideally in the public sector
  • This role will include soft and hard FM
  • Able to provide genuine commercial knowledge and leadership
  • Strong background in FM procurement, category management or large scale FM contract delivery.
  • Broad range FM experience
  • Proven track record leading complex procurements, FM contracts and high value commercial programmes.
  • Excellent commercial judgement, negotiation, and decision making.
  • Strong stakeholder management with ability to engage senior leaders.
  • Skilled in category strategy, pipeline planning, MI/reporting and SRM.
  • Confident leader able to coach and develop high performing teams.
  • Experience overseeing contract performance, risk, supplier performance and major re procurements.
  • Strong ability to bring change about, interpret data, and do pipeline management
  • Minimum CIPS Level 4
