Spinwell is recruiting for a Lead Software Engineer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER
- Design, develop and deliver scalable software solutions using Python and Django
- Build secure, maintainable and test-driven applications
- Translate user needs and business requirements into technical solutions
- Support and enhance live services, ensuring performance, stability and resilience
- Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions
- Collaborate closely with Business Analysts, Designers and Developers within agile teams
- Drive engineering best practices, coding standards and quality assurance
- Lead or contribute to multiple workstreams and user journeys
- Support system integration activities across complex services
- Mentor colleagues and share technical knowledge across teams
- Continuously improve processes, tooling and ways of working
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER
- Extensive commercial Python development experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Django
- Proven capability in system design and software architecture
- Experience designing and delivering end-to-end solutions
- Strong understanding of modern engineering practices and coding standards
- Experience working within agile multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience developing secure, scalable and resilient services
- Strong knowledge of testing, debugging and quality assurance practices
- Minimum 5 years' experience, ideally 8-10+ years for Senior Developer and Technical Lead positions

In addition to the core requirements, Technical Leads should demonstrate:
- Experience leading engineering teams or agile delivery squads
- Ability to mentor and coach developers
- Strong architectural and technical decision-making capability
- Experience managing technical delivery across multiple workstreams
- Excellent collaboration and leadership skills
