Role: Head of Procurement - Mining Restart
Location: Brisbane-based; 40-60% PNG rotation (e.g. 2-3 weeks on/1-2 weeks off).
Reports To: CFO
Package: Competitive base + super + PNG allowance + performance bonus (STI).
Role Overview
A fast-growing resources company seeks a hands-on Head of Procurement to build and run their end-to-end supply chain function from scratch. Splitting time between Brisbane and remote PNG sites, you will act as both a strategic builder and a field problem-solver.
Key Responsibilities
- Function Building: Establish practical SOPs, approval workflows, and systems (DFA, 3-way matching) for a growing explorer/miner.
- Sourcing & Cost: Build international and local vendor panels, negotiate framework agreements (fuel, camp, drilling), and manage multi-currency exposures.
- Team Leadership: Recruit and manage a dual-location team, focusing heavily on mentoring and upskilling local PNG staff.
- On-Site Execution: Partner with Logistics to resolve supply bottlenecks, fast-track customs clearances, and manage frontier market constraints on the ground.
Profile Required
- Experience: Procurement leadership in mining, exploration, or heavy construction.
- Track Record: Proven success setting up a procurement department, its systems, and its processes from a low base.
- Adaptability: Commercially sharp but highly resourceful; comfortable troubleshooting live operational issues on remote sites.
- Logistics: Fully eligible for regular travel and work permits in Papua New Guinea (PNG experience is highly desirable).
