Spinwell is recruiting for a OIC Development Specialist for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE OIC DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
The principal responsibility of the OIC Development Specialist is delivering priorities set by the NPCC and the Home office for the benefit of front-line policing. The areas of development have been identified as Safeguarding, Policy, Operational Activity, Ports and Borders and Training. Working closely with both statutory agencies and NGO’s you will identify and support improvements in the way in which police forces across England & Wales work in partnership to tackle Organised Immigration Crime (OIC) It is part of a team that will exist until March 2027 to build knowledge and to improve the quality and consistency of the UKs policing response. As stated, this is a National role and extensive travel across the UK is required.
In particular to:
- Developing and supporting operational activity across the UK to meet the nature of the current threat;
- Working with both statutory agencies and NGO’s to improve our intelligence picture and disrupt Organised Crime Groups across the UK;
- Working with the Home Office, Border Security Command and NCA to improve Policing’s response to OIC, Prosecutions and PND in relation to OIC
- Developing Workshops and briefings across the UK for front line officers and senior leaders;
- Ensuring effective safeguards to prevent victims being criminalised;
- Working with Regional Coordinators to strengthen approaches and sharing good practice across all UK Police Forces
- Working with other parts of the unit to strengthen our understanding of the scale and nature of OIC and what works best in preventing it.
This list of duties is not restrictive or exhaustive and the post-holder may be required to carry out duties from time to time that are either commensurate with/or lower than the grade of the post. In some posts this might include the ad-hoc provision of guidance and informal training of new colleagues.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE OIC DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
- Degree or equivalent experience in public sector safeguarding or the investigation of crime (through police or partner agencies)
- The ability to engage and work effectively with a range of partners in the public service, private industry and academia to facilitate collaborative working and deliver preventative and problem-solving activity.
- Ability to chair meetings, manage and participate in meetings and T&F groups.
- Have an understanding of wider law enforcement approach to OIC and how policing can engage with and support partner agencies including Border Force and IE
- Experience in identifying, developing, and promoting good practice.
- Excellent communication skills, including a proven ability to produce clear and concise reports and briefings
- A demonstrable ability to mentor and support others to improve.
- Ability to work effectively and flexibly within a regional/national context.
