Spinwell is recruiting for a Digital Java Developer Senior for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DIGITAL JAVA DEVELOPER SENIOR

• Build user-centred services
  • Design and develop software that meets user and business needs.
  • Deliver features that are reliable, accessible, and scalable.
• Write high-quality Java code
  • Develop clean, maintainable, secure Java applications.
  • Follow coding standards, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
• Technical delivery
  • Own complex features and guide implementation across a team.
  • Make technical decisions and resolve design challenges.
• Practice Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Write automated tests before or alongside code.
  • Use frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
• Design APIs and Microservices
  • Build RESTful services using Java frameworks such as Spring Boot.
  • Define contracts, versioning, and integration patterns.
• Support Live Services
  • Monitor production systems.
  • Investigate incidents, optimise performance, and improve resilience.
• Use Cloud and DevOps Practices
  • Work with AWS/Azure, containers, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
  • Promote continuous delivery and operational excellence.
• Mentor and Coach Engineers
  • Support junior and mid-level developers.
  • Conduct code reviews and share engineering knowledge.
• Work in Agile Teams
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, QA Engineers, and Delivery Managers.
  • Contribute to sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives
• Champion Engineering Standards
  • Improve software quality, security, accessibility, and development practices.
  • Contribute to communities of practice and technical strategy.
