Spinwell is recruiting for a Data Modeller for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DATA MODELLER
Data Modelling & Design
- Design and maintain enterprise-scale dimensional data models using the Kimball methodology.
Develop:
- Fact tables
- Conformed dimensions
- Dimension hierarchies
- Bus matrices
- Star schemas
- Aggregate structures
- Define enterprise data standards for analytical modelling.
Design models that support:
- Grants and funding analytics
- Finance analytics
- Organisation and people data
- Studentship data
- Research outcomes and impact reporting
- Produce conceptual, logical and physical data models.
Enterprise Data Platform Development
- Work with architects and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable warehouse structures.
- Ensure consistency across data domains through conformed dimensions and enterprise data definitions.
- Support the development of a single source of truth for analytical reporting.
Design data structures that support:
- Tableau BI reporting
- Self-service analytics
- Advanced analytics
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning use cases.
Business Engagement
- Facilitate data modelling workshops with business stakeholders.
- Analyse business processes and convert requirements into dimensional models and specifications for the ETL Developers.
- Support harmonisation and standardisation of data definitions across client.
- Collaborate with Data Owners, Data Stewards and Subject Matter Experts to develop trusted datasets.
Data Quality & Governance
- Contribute to data governance and data quality initiatives.
Support implementation of:
- Data catalogues
- Business glossaries
- Data lineage
- Master and reference data structures
- Ensure models align with client data standards and governance frameworks.
- Support regulatory and audit requirements through traceable and documented data structures.
AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement
- Design models that are suitable for downstream AI and machine learning applications.
Support initiatives relating to:
- Grant classification
- Reviewer recommendation
- Application similarity analysis
- Business process automation
- Work with data scientists to ensure analytical datasets are optimised for AI consumption.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE DATA MODELLER
- Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of Kimball and star schema data modelling
- Experience of taking source data and joining to existing model of warehouse
- Enterprise warehouse knowledge
- SQL/data skills
