Spinwell is recruiting for a Legal Process Service Lead for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LEGAL PROCESS SERVICE LEAD
The post holder will support the SCS1 Head of Legal Delivery to drive the successful delivery of Legal Process Services across the client, working particularly closely with the wider Senior Leaderships of COO Group and Legal Directorates.
The post holder will support the Head of Division to establish and build the Legal Process Services offering across client, including legal project management (LPM), legal process improvement (LPI) and legal delivery management. This is a leadership role with responsibility for delivering a key strategic priority for client to modernise how we operate and meet our departmental efficiency targets.
The function is evolving quickly, and the post holder will be central to building and shaping the function and leading the development of these core capabilities across client. As they will lead an emerging area, they will have responsibility for building and upskilling a function to deliver their work objectives and will need significant specialist capability in order to do so. The successful candidate will need to be able to clearly articulate the value of Legal Process Services to a variety of audiences.
Immediate priorities for the role holder will include:
- Support the growth and development of Legal Process Services (including LPM, LPI and legal delivery management) as a core function within client to delivery efficiency targets.
- Define the vision, strategy and operating model for Legal Process Services across client, enhancing the maturity of legal process delivery within the organisation, and aligning with the implementation of the business management review.
- Lead the evolution from pilot activity to a scaled, sustainable service offering across both advisory and expert services Directorates.
- Hold accountability for the successful delivery of a portfolio of large-scale legal delivery and improvement projects across client.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand challenges and drive delivery of legal services.
- Act as a senior ambassador for legal delivery, clearly articulating the value of Legal Process Services.
- Partner with other legal operations functions (e.g. Digital, Data, AI, LK&L) to deliver integrated solutions to client.
- Provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders on where legal delivery capability can drive the greatest efficiencies.
- Lead workforce and capability planning including optimal mix of roles and scaling capability in line with demand and funding priorities.
- Establish and embed continuous improvement frameworks and oversee identification of systemic inefficiencies and cross-cutting opportunities across client.
- Provide visible, inclusive leadership to a large G7 team, setting direction and expectations.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE LEGAL PROCESS SERVICE LEAD
- Strong understanding of legal project management and process improvement.
- Detailed understanding of legal processes and workflows essential.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and convey complex information in an accessible way.
- Problem-solving ability with a proactive approach to independently identify and implement solutions or new ways of working.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels, including senior management.
- 6+ years’ experience delivering change in a legal organisation or to a legal function (aka Legal Operations experience either at a law firm or in-house)
- Experience building working relationships across a wider range of professions and seniority levels and using these to bring about change
- Law degree (desirable) or equivalent experience in another regulated environment like financial services
