Role: Technical Documentation Specialist REF 1704417
Contract Length: 3 months
Location: Hybrid/Northampton - For the first 3 weeks the expectation is up to 4 days onsite, then it will reduce to around 1-2 days p/w.

Pay Rate to Intermediary: £270 per day


Spinwell is recruiting for a Technical Documentation Specialist for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION SPECIALIST

  • Work closely with SMEs, engineers and service teams to capture accurate technical information
  • Interview technical staff and conduct workshops to gather insights and clarify processes in order to produce detailed and accurate documentation
  • If required, translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly content for both technical and non technical audiences.
  • Produce clear, accurate, and structured documentation including, but not limited to:
    • Technical architecture diagrams
    • System configuration guides
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Knowledge Base articles
  • Contribute with ideas and suggestions on continuous improvement, identifying gaps in existing documentation and supporting automation via improved content
  • Develop, produce, own and maintain the IT document repository and follow IT procedures as required
  • Establish, introduce and enforce documentation standards, taxonomy, templates and version control practices

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION SPECIALIST

  • Proven experience as a Technical Documentation Specialist or a similar role working within IT
  • Excellent English language skills coupled with excellent communication and collaboration skills and a thorough understanding of technical documentation best practices
  • Ability to understand infrastructure, networks, applications, cloud environments and IT operations workflows, ideally gained from previously working as an IT technician in a large-scale environment
  • Ability to deliver quickly and consistently in a fast-paced environment as well as manage your own documentation tasks and timelines with minimal supervision
  • An enquiring and curious mind with a passion for producing detailed and accurate documentation, artefacts as well as comfortable creating visual content (diagrams, charts etc) including multimedia (videos guides, annotated screenshots etc) if required
  • Ability to constructively challenge technical details provided in order to fully understand and accurately document technical information
