Position Summary
We are seeking a highly diligent and detail-oriented Fund Accountant to join the finance function of this established organisation. This is a crucial role involving high-value transactions, requiring a keen eye for detail and strong accuracy. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in import accounting and fund accounting (derivatives, futures, options), along with the ability to set up and strengthen accounting systems and processes. This role requires a proactive professional who can thrive in a fast-paced, agile, and dynamic environment, and who can communicate effectively with the India-based team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage high-value transactions with diligence and precision, given the critical and sensitive nature of the role.
- Design, set up, and implement accounting systems and processes, laying strong foundations for the organisation's finance function.
- Manage fund accounting operations, including NAV calculations, valuations, and reconciliations across multiple funds/portfolios.
- Account for derivatives, options, and futures, including trade capture, mark-to-market valuations, and P&L recognition.
- Manage import accounting, including landed costs, foreign currency transactions, and related documentation.
- Prepare periodic financial statements, investor reports, and management reports in accordance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS).
- Reconcile positions and cash with custodians, prime brokers, and counterparties on a regular basis.
- Monitor and process corporate actions, income accruals, and expense allocations.
- Support treasury functions, including cash flow monitoring and management of Fixed Deposits (FDs), Letters of Credit (LCs), and Bank Guarantees (BGs) where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with UAE Corporate Tax, VAT, and all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with the India-based team, auditors, fund administrators, custodians, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of audit schedules.
- Support process improvements, internal controls, and automation initiatives within the finance function.
Qualifications & Experience
- CA / CPA / ACCA / CMA or equivalent professional qualification (or actively pursuing).
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience, including import accounting and fund accounting (derivatives, futures, options).
- Experience gained within the UAE, with practical understanding of UAE Corporate Tax and VAT requirements.
- Experience working within an established investment, trading, or asset management organisation.
- Experience setting up or improving accounting systems/processes is highly desirable.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional attention to detail and diligence, given the high-value nature of transactions handled.
- Strong technical knowledge of fund accounting principles, NAV calculation, and valuation methodologies.
- Solid understanding of derivatives, options, and futures instruments and their accounting treatment.
- Hands-on experience in import accounting, including landed costs and foreign currency transactions.
- Ability to design and implement accounting systems and processes from the ground up.
- Thorough working knowledge of UAE Corporate Tax, VAT, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Fluency in Hindi and English (spoken and written), to liaise effectively with the India-based team.
- Proficiency in accounting/ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in an agile, dynamic, fast-paced environment.
