Spinwell is recruiting for a Civic Engagement Manager for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT MANAGER
- To lead on planning and delivery of core civic events for the Council, to include
- Remembrance Sunday, Holocaust Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day and the Annual Meeting civic reception.
- To lead on planning and delivery of civic and ceremonial engagements and events for the Speaker and Mayor.
- To manage all aspects of the Speaker’s Office, including supervising temporary staff, managing expenditure within budget, and providing effective and proactive day to day support to the Speaker of Hackney.
- To promote civic engagement, local democracy and the role and profile of the Speaker.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT MANAGER
- Ability to organise own workload to meet deadlines and agreed targets/standards
- Ability to manage a diversity of projects
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diversity of audiences
- Ability to be self-supporting in administrative tasks
- Ability to work with drive and enthusiasm
- Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team
- An understanding of the role of Speaker of Hackney
- An understanding of the Mayor’s priorities for Hackney and of the borough’s key deliverables
- Relevant understanding of procedures and protocols regarding civic and democratic life
- Political awareness and sensitivity
- Understanding of, and experience of working with, IT systems and the development of such systems to improve service delivery
- Experience of event organisation
- Experience of devising and implementing fundraising strategies
- Experience of producing a variety of written material
- Experience of working as part of a team to ensure that team objectives are met
- An understanding of the Council’s Equality & Cohesion policy
- Degree level ability or equivalent level of competence/experience
